Adventure Tours:

You want action – you got it at Patrick’s! You can be away from it all or if you want company, stay with the friendly people in villages that can only be reached by boat. No doubt, you will have the time of your life. How about going to a secluded island or beach and overnight in a tent or a primitive island cottage. Simply rent a kayak, paddle boat or use one of our small pump-boats. Have the adventure of your life. To make it a “luxury adventure” Patrick’s can provide coolers with ice, drinks and delicious food. Don’t forget a bottle of YoHoHo rum to keep you smiling all day & night no matter where you are.

Van or Bike Touring:

Surf, swim, snorkel, meet the lovely locals and discover a whole lot more! There are many ways to tour around Siargao Island. For a shorter exploration you can rent inexpensively a bicycle or for exploring further distances, rent a motor bike or a car. To see the whole Island is impossible to do in one day. That’s one of the reasons why Patrick’s also offer two and three day tours with overnight stays at popular beaches (like Alegria), where you can surf, explore caves or refresh yourself at the water falls. These overnight tours are well planed with good food and drinks. You will be happy that we organized the island 2 or 3 day trip for you as there are very few choices of food and drinks available around the interior of the Island. Some of the roads are paved and some of the roads are not…if you venture out on your own, ask our friendly staff about the best route to take.

Maqpupungko Natural Rock & Coral Pools:

Located in Pilar, these spectacular rock formations look like rocks squatting on top of one another. The name is derived from the local word for Squat ‘pungkô’. A must-see to experience these totally clear, alluring and natural-pools that open up during low tide. Close to the pools you see and hear the waves breaking. There is also an ample stretch of white sand beach, perfect to have a beach picnic.
This trip can also be arranged as a boat tour.

Kite Surfing:

Right on Patrick’s Beach there is some great kite surfing. In the kite season, the wind blows cross on-shore. Just bring your own gear. There is none for rental here as yet.

Stand-Up Paddle Surfing:

Patrick’s is the ideal place to launch your paddle board from. The outer reef provides protection from the big swell however if you want to catch some great weaves, simply paddle over to it and surf uncrowded waves. The reef break, known as Cemetery, is approximately a 5-10 minute paddle from Patrick’s. We rent Boards and Paddles and often do SUP Tours with our boats into the islands lagoons and mangroves.

Cockfighting:

Filipino cocks are quite small, but you will often see a GL man proudly stroking his cock in the street. Cockfights are on Sundays, about 1pm, out of town. It’s a great day out, if you’re not a vegetarian. If you can understand the betting, win a little bit, but not too much – it’s the local’s only chance to make a bit extra, so don’t beat the bank. Tip – bet on and watch for the owner’s T shirt, not the bird – after a bit of rumpus, both contestants look tattered and patchy.

Relaxing & Limin’ around:

Probably the most popular active sport in General Luna, it’s remarkably relaxing, restorative and healthful. From Patrick’s Beach Bar & Restaurant overlooking Guyam and Dako Islands you can watch the fishermen from dawn to dusk, the clouds and the waves in the day or the moon at night. It’s up to you if you just sit and think or just sit. The best hangout by far is Patrick’s Beach Bar & Restaurant where you can get spoiled with the best cocktail blends: “Beach Streakier”, Surf breaker, Sun Chaser, Mermaid’s Lover and the Habal-Habal Splash. Don’t forget to try YoHoHo Mango Rum by far the best Rum you ever tasted made on Siargao Island. At night you can meet lots of friendly locals at Patrick’s Roadside Bar, Barbeque and Karaoke. That’s the boardwalk of GL where you will get to know the people. Check out Patrick’s bulletin board that has all the latest information on all the action in and around Siargao Island.
GL people are very friendly and hospitable, sometimes a little shy. Smile and you’ll get a radiant smile back. The girls are very beautiful and very charming, but well behaved. Fishermen often picnic by the beach or on Guyam, and may invite you for a shot of Tanduay rum, Kulafu medicinal wine, tuba coconut wine or pa-oroi strong nipa wine. Beware, they are more intoxicating than they seem. Try kinilaw, fresh fish steeped in vinegar, lemon juice, chili, ginger and onions, refreshing, spicy and delicious. They might offer iro, dog stew, which is worth trying (once), litson (roast pig) or kanding (roast goat), worth trying anytime. Get a lad to climb a tree for fresh butong, coconut juice straight from the nut.

Dining:

There are hardly any restaurants on the island and the choice of food is limited but things have been improving a lot. Patrick’s on the Beach offers a tremendous selection of international and local delicacies. One of Patrick’s guest a German Doctor who visited Siargao in 1982 said – “Now being in Siargao is truly like living in paradise with those fantastic choices of food and wonderful drinks served at Patrick’s.” Just look at the daily menu. It’s food at it’s finest.

Nightlife & Discos:

Yes there are a few bars, karaoke venues and discos, however, there is no real restaurant, cafe or nightclub scene.  There are often house parties and full moon parties though. There is no professional hooker scene in GL, and nobody wants one, however, you may find girls, boys and lady boys in some of the Karaoke and Discos who offer a little bit more than just a good conversation. There is a boardwalk also called “Lovers Lane” right along the pier in General Luna. A great hang-out with a few Karaoke and snack bars where lots of visitors and locals meet and exchange all their good and bad gossip.

Fun, Sport & Games:

Basketball is very popular and the locals are happy to challenge your skills. You will find pool tables everywhere and some of the local fellows are quite good at it. Here at Patrick’s we have plenty choices: Volley Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Darts, Beach Tennis, and many other in- and outdoor games.

Shopping:

Siargao only became a tourist destination not so long ago, so life here is still very laid back. Stores only have very limited supplies to buy but it is changing for the better as more tourists discover and visit this jewel of the Philippines. You will find some unique products at Patrick’s gift shop and you may find some local made stuff as you travel around this beautiful island.

Communications:

You probably came to get away from it all, but we have cell phones serviced by Smart and Globe and we have Free WiFi throughout the entire property in all cottages. We actually have the fastest Internet speed on the island due to our proximity to the ISP’s equipment.
